Lucas Closs is a dramatist based in London.
His first play Mitigating Circumstances was performed at the Old Fire Station, Oxford, in 2023- a dark comedy following art students who use their experiences of grief to compete with each other.
Catfish the Cabaret, a parody musical of the Catfish TV Show, was performed at Edinburgh Fringe in 2023 in collaboration with musician, Deniz Dortok, who continues to compose live scores for Lucas’ plays.
Skunlip was performed in 2024 in the attic space of The George Tavern, Whitechapel - a writer returns to her hometown to discover the ways her best-selling book has distorted the area and its residents. This received four stars by the Reviews Hub and described as ‘compelling, witty and unique’ and ‘poetic and intricate yet instantly accessible and familiar’ by actor, Ben Miles.
The Practice, a play about the followers of a spiritual teacher who vie to control his foundation, was performed in the George Tavern Theatre in April 2025 and was described as ‘an intelligent tapestry of menace’ in a Youngish Perspective.
Lucas completed a Creative Writing MSt from the University of Oxford in 2024. He is currently developing a new iteration of Skunlip and a new play, Restoration.
